About the Artist

David Marquez was born London and grew up in Houston, Texas.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in History and Government and earning teaching certificate for high school history, he chose to take a risk to pursue his passion for illustration. Immediately he was hired on as an animator on Warner Independent Pictures’ A SCANNER DARKLY.
Since SCANNER, David has worked to a variety of small press and creator-owned comics projects. In 2009 he began work on SYNDROME, an original graphic novel for Archaia Entertainment, slated for a July 2010 release.
David currently resides in Austin, Texas with his girlfriend, Tara (pronounced “Tahr-uh”, not “Tear-uh”), and dog, Shisha. He fills what little free time that’s left practicing Aikido and tutoring test taking strategies for the law school and med school entrance exams.
